Itinerary and Excursions  

Thursday September 29 -- arrive in Yerevan.  Overnight Ani Plaza Hotel

(day 1) Friday September 30 

Yerevan City Tour - 

10:30 am -- after breakfast.  We begin the exploration of Armenia with a visit to Erebouni (old name for Yerevan) fortress built in 700 B.C. .  Then to Genocide museum. Then we will visit Victory Park to see the statue of Mother of Armenia.  Lunch will be served at the park at 2p.m.  From Victory Park the bus will drop the group at Kaaskad cultural center which is a massive staircase flanked by a hillside.  The center carries Contemporary Art, Statues by various world renown artists.

You can spend 2 hours at your own leisure, exploring Kaascad and the Sculpture garden. 

The Welcome dinner will be at Kaaskad at 6:30pm


(day 2) Saturday Oct. 1 

Garni and Gehghart - 

10:30 a.m. The bus will leave the hotel to Geghart which is an incredible Christian Monastery partly carved into the hillside.  Garni is a pagan temple.  Lunch at a village near Garni.

Returning to Yerevan we will visit the manuscript museum

After the manuscript museum the bus will drop the group at Vernisage (a swap meet )

The remainder of the afternoon and the evening will be free

(day 3) Sunday Oct 2


The tour includes a visit to the church of Holy Virgin St. Hripsime. (built 395 AD) + ETCHMIAZIN the first state built Church in the world.  Then to visit the ruins of Zvartnotz (the round) Cathedral built in 7th century.  Lunch on the way back.  Returning to Yerevan. We can have a short visit to the famous swap meet called VERNISAGE  

The bus will drop the group at the National Gallery to see the 5000 year old shoe.

Evening at your leisure

(Day 4) Monday Oct. 3 – (Overnight in Goris)

Depart Yerevan, along the way we visit the historic Khor Virap Monastery, (the site where St. Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned. St. Gregory brought the Christianity to Armenia.) On the way a special visit to an Archeological site, to watch work in progress.) and then another visit a vineyard and have lunch and watch the laborers harvest grapes for making wine. Then we will visit Noravank Monestery from there to see Karahunj (the Armenian Stonehenge) From there we will continue to the City of Goris. Dinner will be served

(Day 5) Tuesday Oct. 4, – Overnight in Dilijan

After the breakfast an excursion to Tatev Monastery which is among the oldest and most prominent monasteries in Armenia. A UNESCO World Heritage candidate, it played an important role in the life of the region as its major spiritual, political, cultural and educational center. We will take the air tramway (Wings of Tatev) which is the longest in the world. (see picture of the monestery below) From Tatev Monastery we will procede to the Village of Khndzoresk Which in an old village where people lived in caves until in 1950s.  We will visit the famous Khndzoresk suspended bridge.

The excursion will continue to Lake Sevan, one of the Must see touristic Destinations of Armenia. (Lunch at Lake Sevan) There, we will visit one of the oldest monasteries by the shores of the lake Sevan. Then we will proceed to the resort-town of Dilijan  (Dinner and over night in Dilijan) 

In the morning, before we head to Tbilisi, we may visit The History museum in Dilijan. There are urns unearthed from 2000BC

                             DESTINATION to Tbilisi, Georgia (One and a half-day in Tbilisi)

(Day 6) Wednesday October 5 (overnight Tbilisi)

After breakfast, the excursion from Dilijan will proceed to Tbilisi in Georgia. (lunch and dinner in Tbilisi)

(Day 7) Thursday October 6 (overnight Tbilisi)

After breakfast we will continue the city tours of Tbilisi. Major sightseeings Tsminda Sameba Cathedral | Narikala Fortress | The Bridge of Peace | Sioni Cathedral Church | Dancing Fountains Plus some other places including walking tours. Dinner with Georgian Dance entertainment

(Day 8) Friday October 7 (Returning to Armenia) 

HAGHBAT & SANAHIN monasteries

After breakfast from Tibilisi we will proceed to Armenia on the way we will visit Haghbat monastery one of the largest medieval monasteries of Armenia. And then Sanahin Monastery. The Haghbat and Sanahin Monasteries are considered to be jewels of medieval Armenian architecture, preserved by UNESCO and included in the World Heritage LIst B.  On rout we will visit the Tufenkian Hotel in Lori and will have lunch there. If time permitted we may visit Dsegh village the birthplace of Armenia's most beloved writer, Hovaness Toumanyan. And have dinner there. 

(Day 9) Saturday October 8 

Free day in Yerevan.  

(Day 10) Sunday October 9
